A long time ago I tried out the game Heroclix and really enjoyed it. It was very much like a game I loved, MageKnight, which ended up ceasing to exist. After MageKnight disappeared the only miniatures game around was Heroclix. Now, I'm really not that into super heroes but I can't deny the game was fun. Anyways, I spent a bunch of money on figures and there wasn't really anyone to play with; so I stopped. About 4-5 years later its still around and the community for it is huge. Apparently the comic shop has a decent turn out every day for players so I decided I'll check it out soon and give it another shot. I also got a few other friends into it and we were taught how to play once again.

Oh by the way. Shang Chi kicks ass.

I was sitting in the back left of a movie theatre watching some sort of movie (obviously) when i began to hear my phone vibrating. What the hell? I grabbed my leg to see if it was actually vibrating or if I was losing my mind. As my hand reached my thigh I realized my phone wasn't ringing. Wait. This movie theatre looks awfully strange. I don't think I've ever actually been in it before. I woke up to grabbing my phone off of my make-shift night stand and picked it up. "Look out your window!" I was feeling pretty groggy. "What window?", I responded thinking that it was still night time and I was going to look at a giant moon or a sky full of stars. Reality came to me quite fast. "The window right next to you!" With things beginning to make sense I could put a face to a voice I was hearing. I pulled the blinds open and was struck with a clear blue sky, verdant pine trees, and about fifteen feet below me, was Caitlin wearing a grey long coat mouthing the words "Good Morning." As I unlocked the front door I was greeting with a very happy hello and a wide grin. Still kinda groggy. I was trying to piece together how she was here rather than sitting in the back of a cop car observing the extreme lives of a Goshen town cop. I found my way back to sleep, this time much warmer and much more comfortable. After about an hour and a half I rose again. Made some breakfast. Made some more breakfast. Took a shower and ruined my day.

Well, I haven't posted much at all over the last week. It's been a very odd (good odd) week. It was packed full of its ups and downs but now I've got a week of pretty much what ever I want ahead of me. Its midterms week, so, considering I don't have any midterms, I've got myself a week off.

Now what does one do with this much free time? I started off today by going to a job interview (got the job) and headed over to a certain someones house. I passed out on the couch and got up around 3:30. Went to nobel, saw a head on collision car accident being cleaned up outside of nobel. I'm still yet to see a car accident happen. Being in five car accidents I think I have earned the right to see one! This isn't because I have some weird fetish where I get off to people being pierced with a two ton hunk of metal, I just think it would be really interesting to see such a destructive accident first hand. Anyways, I went to AC Moore and couldn't afford what I wanted so I left, made a collage, ate dinner, and read some Ham on Rye. Now I'm typing down what I did today.

This year everything has really been coming together. I don't have any huge problems or many pressing issues. Its very strange to not have many stressors on a daily basis. Its very hard to bundle up an entire year into a couple of words but, "everything" has been good, probably the best yet even. I'm really excited to see whats coming.

Overall, I've got no complaints.

Tonight I had to write an essay on universal health-care for economics. After doing a little research what I found was pretty upsetting. I hate the fact that one of the main reasons nothing is happening with universal health-care is that its entwined with politics. I don't think something this important should be fucked up and involved with politics. Sure, you need to run your campaign with support for certain ideas but this is a much larger problem. You can't really deny data. Anyways, this makes me want to stay even farther away from politics than I already do.

National health-care has been a heavily debated topic over the last decade. With prices for health-care sky rocketing, it's easy to see why this is such a controversial topic. Both supporters and critics of national government funded health-care have very good arguments to support their polar beliefs.

Currently, there is only one thing that both supporters and critics can agree on; the price of health-care is rising at a large rate. Now it just comes down to one thing, who should pay for this necessary service? One way is to claim that this service isn't necessary. But for most of the United States, health-care is viewed as a must have. If you enter an American hospital to receive health-care you can be sure the expect to be paying greatly for your stay. How did you get there? An ambulance? Theres your first bill. A single ambulance to pick you up and get you to the hospital in an emergency could start the sink hole in your bank before you're even treated. Well now that you're there you can be sure to receive top of the line treatment, right? You've got a doctor to look at you, maybe some X-rays, maybe some other diagnostic tests, and possibly a surgery, depending on the situation. At this point you better have your insurance card handy or your most likely in for a very large surprise, in the form of a bill. It is safe to assume that the average, full-time, hard working, average American Joe cannot pay a hospital bill without the help of health-care insurance. But whose problem is this? Many are pointing the finger at the government to handle this and create a universal national health-care service.

There are many arguments against such an idea. Government funded national health-care would cause way too many problems! Lets start with the lines, you might die waiting to be seen let alone diagnosed. If health-care was government controlled, doctors would be paid a certain, set amount of money; thus they would be highly unmotivated (because the only motivation in a career choice is obviously money) and the medical service you would receive would be far lower than anticipated. Also, why should we pay a tax for health care? You and I shouldn't have to pay for other someone else's sickness! I sure didn't give anyone cancer. The health of the general population (necessary for the advance of our society) clearly shouldn't be my concern.

It's safe to assume that supporters of national health-care have their own arguments too. They deny the claims of critics and support their arguments with data. The lines are horrible right? The average wait in a clinic in Canada, France, or Great Britain is between 10 and 15 minutes. I've sat in my doctor's office for over forty five minutes in America, with private health-care insurance, waiting to get a physical. Well, it seems the line issue may be an over exaggeration or even a speculation. Also, doctors in a government health-care service would be far from cold and starving on their salary. In France a doctor lives very comfortably and has more than enough money for leisure as well. Another factor to consider is that countries with universal health-care have much higher life expectancies and much lower infant deaths than the United States. The United States amount of infant deaths per 1,000 births doubles that of France, which has universal health care.

I strongly support government sponsored health-care. I have many reasons for this view. I believe that as a democratic country that constantly boasts about how it has to be an influence to the rest of the world, it is extremely savage and unintelligent to not take care of the health of our own citizens. Considering 43.6 million of the people of our country are uninsured, it is obviously a matter that must be dealt with as soon as possible. Way too many, perfect, hard-working, family valuing, church-loving, citizens have lost there homes, security, and even their lives to a lack of health-care coverage. This is unacceptable.

Mini-Spring

Today was a pretty good, relaxing, day. Woke up to a warm morning of 58 degrees, which always feels pretty fucking good. Not just a week ago I was shaking in the passenger seat of a car at 7am thinking my body would shut down before I even made it to school. But forget that for now, today was not too hot, not too cold. Ideal? Nah. Perfect weather. After receiving my state-mandated top of the line education I couldn't wait to get back out into the sunshine. Skies that were as blue as blue can get with giant puffy white clouds. I soon learned that I hate wind chill. I almost got knocked on my ass the wind was so strong. I was blinded by a mess of hair that kept beating my eyes shut. However, this wasn't nearly enough to keep me from enjoying it. I know weather is usually considered small talk and usually only brought up when there is nothing else to say but this is much more than that.

This weather has been a winter oasis.

He wore a bubble-vest, choking his overweight body. A faded tan-ish hat that was deteriorating into threads sagged miserably across his bald scalp. He stared ahead with empty eyes, peering through large opaque lenses. He was standing at the register with his cart, overflowing with cans of cat food; easily fifty or sixty dollars worth of cat food.

But I am. Maybe out of slight interest but most likely out of sheer boredom I've decided to make a blog to organize the endless amounts of random thoughts I get throughout my average day.

Lets start with new years.

It was the first new years I've ever had a genuine good time. I spent time with my good friends without getting plastered. Instead I put on my shirt and tie and started a stereotypical orange county adventure, starting at the colonial (of course). A good crowd was there, drunken bros, cackling bro girls, puerto rican thugs drinking hot chocolate, and the older folks sleeping at the bar stools. Everyone was obviously welcoming in the new year in there own warm and personal ways.

It was the best french onion soup I've ever had.
It was the worst cigar I've ever had.
